Procedure
Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, raises and firms breasts by removing excess skin and tightening surrounding tissue. The procedure starts with anesthesia, either general or local with sedation. Dr. Kim makes incisions, which vary based on the required lift; common patterns include around the areola, vertically to the breast crease, and horizontally along the crease. Excess skin is removed, and the nipple and areola are lifted to a more youthful position. The skin is then tightened and sutured, and sometimes the areola size is reduced for better proportion. The incisions are closed with sutures, adhesives, or surgical tape.
The entire process usually takes two to three hours, and patients can typically return home the same day. Post-operative care includes wearing a special support bra, managing any discomfort with prescribed medications, and following Dr. Kim’s guidelines for a smooth recovery.
