Questions about Nose Surgery
Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica
Is there a minimum age requirement for nose surgery?
Dr. Kim can perform nose surgery on younger children in cases of deformity or injury where reconstruction is needed. Typically, nose surgery is not recommended until after age 16 when the nose is fully formed and stable.
Is rhinoplasty covered by health insurance?
If the nose surgery is recommended to correct obstruction that interferes with breathing, or if reconstruction is needed due to injury or disease, there may be some coverage available from your insurance company. If you would like, we can check with your carrier when you come in for your personal nose surgery consultation.
Is nose surgery expensive?
Because it is a surgical procedure, requires anesthesia, and demands a high skill level, nose surgery is priced accordingly. We are proud to offer affordable nose surgery financing to our patients who wish to defer the cost and spread out the payments over a number of months. Dr. Kim and a financial coordinator will give you all the details on cost, payment, and financing during your initial visit.
What will my nose look like after rhinoplasty?
Every patient’s results will vary based on Dr. Kim’s techniques and his personal design aspects. He will explain the steps of the redesign in detail and give you an idea of the results you can expect using our advanced digital imaging system.
What are the risks of rhinoplasty?
There are some risks you should be aware of, as with any type of surgical procedure. Complications are rare, and if you follow Dr. Kim’s pre-operative instructions, you can minimize your risks. We will go over the risks and complications with you during your first visit.
Can I expect scarring after nose surgery?
In most cases, Dr. Kim will make an incision on the columella, the skin between your nostrils. This is known as an open rhinoplasty. The incision typically heals well, and the scar is very subtle. Sometimes, he is able to place incisions inside the nose (closed rhinoplasty), and in this case there is no visible scar.
Will there be bruising and swelling?
Rhinoplasty patients can expect some bruising and swelling, which typically resolves within one to two weeks. Following your surgeon’s post-operative instructions can help the healing process and encourage a quicker recovery with less discomfort.
How long before I see the final results of my nose surgery?
Although some of the results of nose surgery are visible right away, there will be continued, subtle changes for months, and your final results will not be visible until about six months after surgery.
Can Rhinoplasty be Combined with Other Procedures?
