What to Expect From Your Breast Augmentation
Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica
A Beverly Hills breast augmentation is a personal decision that can change your self esteem, and your life overall. If you are unhappy with the size or shape of your breasts, then a breast augmentation may be the procedure for you.
What a Breast Augmentation Will Do
By increasing the fullness and projection of your breasts, augmentation surgery will make them appear more youthful and voluptuous. If your breasts are disproportionate, a breast augmentation can balance your figure and enhance your confidence.
A breast augmentation uses implants to fulfill your desire for larger, fuller breasts. It can also help restore breast volume that you have lost after pregnancy or breast feeding. If you have suffered trauma or have had your breasts removed because of cancer, a breast augmentation can reconstruct natural-looking breasts and help you regain your self-esteem.
What a Breast Augmentation Will Not Do
A breast augmentation will not correct drooping or sagging breasts. If sagging breasts is your number one problem, you should consider a breast lift, which removes excess skin and tissue and lifts your breasts. A breast augmentation can be combined with a breast lift for optimum results. You may even be able to have the operations performed simultaneously, depending on your body and your particular needs.
The Breast Augmentation Procedure
Breast augmentation is an involved surgical procedure, where either saline (salt water) or silicone-filled implants are inserted into your chest cavity. Your implants may be placed behind your chest muscle or on top of it. You can choose the size of your breast implants, the texture of your implants, and the type of incision.
There are various incision options that offer different benefits. Some are appropriate for one type of implant, but not for the other. Be sure to speak with Beverly Hills breast augmentation surgeon Eugene Kim, MD about all of your options and preferences.

Post-Operative Expectations
Because your breast tissue will be stretched and separated, and your implants will be inserted through small incisions, your breasts will be bruised and swollen after surgery. You can expect to wear a sports bra for several days, or even weeks, depending on your situation. You will probably experience moderate pain and discomfort, but this can be controlled with pain medications. Depending on your level of activity, you may also be instructed to wear an athletic or support bra until the swelling has gone down.
After you heal, some scarring will remain. But over time, these scars will fade and become harder to detect. The goal is to make the incisions as small and inconspicuous as possible, so that you can fully enjoy the end result.
