Forehead Lift
Forehead lift cosmetic surgery has evolved over the years to include advanced endoscopic and short incision techniques. The procedure may involve incisions in the forehead and the hair bearing scalp. At the time of initial consultation, the surgeon will discuss the steps involved in the procedure.
Patients often feel more confident and are able to make better decisions when they know what the procedure will entail. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Eugene Kim provides forehead lift patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and surrounding locations.
Open Forehead Lift
If significant tissue modification is involved, the surgeon may recommend an open forehead lift cosmetic surgery. The first step in the procedure will be to place the patient under sedation and administer local anesthesia. Thereafter, the surgeon will place a horizontal incision along the forehead, either in the hairline or in a natural forehead crease to keep the subsequent scarring minimally visible.
Excess fatty tissue will be removed and loose underlying muscles will be tightened through the incision. The surgeon will then trim away any loose skin and pull the remaining skin taut. They will place the brow in its new, youthful position with deep sutures.
Endoscopic Forehead Lift
This is a less invasive technique performed using only local anesthesia. The surgeon will begin the procedure by placing small incisions in the targeted sites, and insert an endoscopic camera through it.
The surgeon will be able to see the transmitted video of the underlying forehead structure on a monitor and perform more precise and targeted lifting and skin tightening. Incisions will be smaller compared to an open forehead lift, and the patient will go through reduced downtime and discomfort.
Limited Incision Forehead Lift
In this hybrid procedure, the surgeon will utilize the elements of both open and endoscopic forehead lift. They will create small incisions to lift the external part of the brows without using an endoscope. The incisions are usually placed in the temporal hairline. While the central part of the brow cannot be corrected with this technique, it can mitigate aging lines around the corner of the eyes, commonly known as crow’s feet.
At the time of pre-op consultation, the surgeon will determine the type of forehead lift a patient should receive. This will depend on their unique facial anatomy and personal aesthetic goals. Experienced plastic surgeon Dr. Eugene Kim receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and nearby areas for a forehead lift.
Combined Surgery
The steps involved in a forehead lift surgery can be somewhat adjusted if the procedure is performed in combination with another surgery. Drooping brows and forehead skin can often occur along with sagging upper eyelids and loose eyelid skin. Therefore, all these conditions may have to treated together to create more natural looking outcomes.
A custom plan for a comprehensive upper face surgery will be created in such cases while accounting for the patient’s personal aesthetic needs, natural hairline as well as individual hair style preferences.
