Lip Implant Surgery
Lip implant plastic surgery is the most effective and sustainable solution for lip augmentation. It involves the surgical insertion of synthetic implants into the lips to augment their appearance and shape. Lip implants will be customized to match with the unique shape of your lips to create a fuller and natural looking lip appearance. The surgery will require about one hour to be completed.
Following local anesthesia and mild sedation, your surgeon will create small incisions in the discreet areas of your lips (usually the mouth corners). They will carve a slender tunnel through the incision that can accommodate the implant. Once the implant is placed and adjusted into position, the surgeon will suture it through the lip. The implant will then be carefully trimmed to the required size and the incisions will be closed.
Lip Augmentation with Fat Transfer or Dermal Fillers
A fat transfer surgery or a dermal filler injection procedure may be performed if you want to avoid lip implants. The fat transfer surgery procedure will be performed in two steps. At first, your surgeon will extract excess fat from a donor site in your body (such as the abdomen or lips).
This fat will be purified through a centrifugal process, and injected precisely into the affected areas of your lips. As the fat used is autologous (your own body fat), you will have minimal risk of an allergic reaction or fat rejection.
Lip enhancement can also be performed in a completely non-surgical way using facial fillers. Your cosmetic surgeon may recommend Juvederm, Restylane or another type of dermal filler that is suitable for the sensitive lip area. The advantage with hyaluronic acid based fillers is that they are biocompatible and do not require an allergy test.
