To make sure you heal properly, you will need to wear a sports bra for the weeks following breast augmentation.
Expect to not wear an underwire bra for several weeks after surgery. Breast augmentation will cause some numbness in your breasts, so you may not be able to notice if an underwire is causing irritation. Also, if your breast surgery incision was at the crease on the bottom of your breast (inframammary incision), avoiding an underwire helps protect this incision site as it heals.
In any case, you should check with your cosmetic surgeon before wearing an underwire bra. Timelines will depend on your specific surgery as well as your body’s unique healing time.
